Dear people of Großau,
The motto of this year’s Homeland Day is: “We belong… thanks and obligation”. A lot can be interpreted into these words. For me, it was a new and wonderful experience to be part of this event. Surrounded by the most diverse traditional costumes: each one unique, as well as the most diverse dialects.

The enthusiasm I felt despite the cold and wet weather was great. The two boys, Martin and Tobias, who were running at the front, were taking part for the third time. There was a very special atmosphere around us as we waited in the designated places on the Bleiche. We were the 86th of the 94 traditional costume groups to take part, but were still caught out by the rain at the end. So we were glad to get out into the dry in our favorite pub, “Weib’s Brauhaus”, where a number of people from Großau were already having a lively chat. And there were more and more of them, so that by now all the seats were taken.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who took part in the traditional costume parade, but also those who cheered us on and those who contributed to the preparations. We all know that without the silent helpers in the background, something like this cannot take place. We would also like to thank everyone who came to our now traditional restaurant “Weib’s Brauhaus” and contributed to the convivial exchange.
I am very pleased that the Großauer Blätter are now up to date, many thanks to everyone, especially to our Josef Ramsauer and his wife Rosi.
On August 10 and 11, we will celebrate this year’s meeting in Großau. We want to celebrate it in the parish barn so that we can use the proximity to the kitchen in the old Dampfbutterei and also save the costs for the tent. We have already received confirmation from Father Stieger, the brass band and the cook. What we still need are the registrations to prepare the party.
I have a big request for all Großau residents – please register by 15.6.2013 so that we can prepare the festival in the best possible way.
There are several registration channels available:
either via the e-mail address “kontakt@grossau.de” , the online form on the homepage or the telephone numbers of
Rosine Stieger: 0711 588359
Samuel Krauss: 089 134028
Marianne Liebhart: 089 932131
or Ernst Klamer: 07121 44732.
I have one last request for everyone. We have launched an appeal for donations for the parish barn in order to expand the parish barn for festivities in a joint effort by the parish of Großau, the diaspora parishes (see article under parish) and the HOG Großau. As the financial means available to us so far are not sufficient, we are dependent on your support. (Donation account: Account number: 204008707, sort code: 60010070, Postbank Stuttgart, purpose: Renovation of parish barn / donor’s place of residence).
I wish us all a healthy reunion in Großau.
Your Ernst Klamer
